[ARCHIVED] Career Opportunity - Emergency Communications Dispatcher

The Hartford, VT Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for the position of full-time “Emergency Communications Dispatcher” (ECD). This position requires working in a fast paced telecommunication center answering business and 911 emergency calls and dispatching appropriate police, fire, ems or other emergency response personnel. The applicant will participate in an oral interview, must take and pass a Criticall exam, must be in good health, pass a background check and take part in an interview with the Chief of Police. The successful applicant will become familiar with computer-based dispatching systems. Training will be provided to the successful candidate to become an ECD, EMD and become NG911 certified.

The position involves shift work (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays) with some required overtime. This is an opportunity for a self-motivated and dedicated individual to join a professional communication staff in a modern dispatching environment.
