[ARCHIVED] Career Opportunity - Wastewater Plant Operator

The Town of Hartford, Vermont is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Wastewater Plant Operator. This position performs a variety of routine tasks and specialized technical functions related to the operation and maintenance of a Town sewage treatment facility and sewer system, including plant, pumping stations, leach fields, sewer mains, manholes and stubs. The preferred candidate shall possess Level 3 state certification and a broad base of technical knowledge and skills in all facets of sewage treatment plant operation, including government standards and regulations.

Minimum qualifications include: Basic education (high school) plus 4 to 5 years of relevant STP experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Good mechanical skills, with experience in operation, maintenance and repair of pumps, electrical and plumbing systems. Good basic reading, writing and math skills. Basic understanding of chemistry, with college-level training is desirable. Experience reading blueprints and written instruction manuals desirable.

A combination of skills and experience demonstrating the above requirements may be considered. This is a union position, salary level mid 30’s to mid 40’s plus OT and competitive benefits.
