The Town of Hartford Planning Commission and staff are considering adding multi-unit residential and mixed-use to the Ballardvale Drive and Route 5 area across from the VA Hospital. The area is currently zoned Industrial-Commercial 2 (I-C-2) which prohibits residential and mixed-use development. The proposal would change the designation to "Industrial-Commercial-Residential (I-C-R)." The proposed I-C-R zoning district would make multi-unit dwellings and mixed-use (residential and commercial development in the same building) a conditional use. Other proposed changes include moving some permitted uses to the conditional use side or eliminating the use all together. The community meeting is intended to obtain public input before a decision is made whether to pursue formal adoption of the zoning change. The meeting will take place on Monday, March 28th at 6:00 p.m. at the Hartford Town Hall, 171 Bridge Street in White River Junction. The meeting is accessible remotely.
