The Town received a Certified Local Government historic preservation grant and hired Architectural Historian Brian Knight. Brian has previously worked for the Town and completed the Advent Camp Meeting Grounds Historic District Nomination that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2017. Brian also completed an update and expansion of the White River Junction Historic District listed on the National Register in 2019.
For the Taft’s Flat ILS, Brian photographed each Taft’s Flat building and completed a form for each property assessing the building’s eligibility for listing on the National Register. He also completed extensive research on the Taft’s Flat development and recently completed a draft report for the project.

This past spring, a walking tour and community meeting had been planned. However, due to Covid-19, the public events had to be postponed. The Town has requested an extension to the project so that an in-person walking tour and community meeting can be held at some point in the future. If you would like to be notified of the walking tour or community meeting, please contact Matt Osborn at 295-3075 or mosborn@hartford-vt.org
We welcome any comments or questions about the project or Draft Report. Please feel to contact Matt Osborn.
