[ARCHIVED] HIGHWAY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

This position will primarily operate a variety of trucks and other highway equipment, involving plowing, salting and sanding roads in winter, and assisting in general highway maintenance and construction work in other seasons, with a focus on operation of basic to moderately complex trucks and equipment, as well as manual labor.

Minimum qualifications include: Basic education (high school) plus 2 to 3 years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Shall have a good driving record and driving skills. Some relevant previous experience driving trucks and/or operating light to heavy equipment. Shall have good basic mechanical skills. Some experience or training in vehicle mechanics helpful.

A combination of skills and experience demonstrating the above requirements may be considered.  Must have valid driver’s license. Must have physical ability to operate trucks and highway equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of eighty-five pounds. Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
