The Town of Hartford, Vermont is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Maintenance Specialist. This position will operate a variety of trucks and other highway equipment, involving plowing, salting and sanding roads in winter, other maintenance projects in other seasons and assisting in the maintenance and repairs of a wide variety of town vehicles, engines and other equipment.
Minimum qualifications include: Basic education (high school) plus 6 to 8 years of relevant work experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Shall have a good driving record and driving skills. Some relevant previous experience driving trucks and/or operating light to heavy equipment. Shall have good basic mechanical skills. Some experience or training in vehicle mechanics helpful.
A combination of skills and experience demonstrating the above requirements may be considered. Must have valid driver's license (CDL-B-Tank Endorsement). Must have physical ability to operate trucks and highway equipment. Must be able to lift a minimum of eighty-five pounds. Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
